Yallingup

26 09 2008

After missing out on a great sunset this afternoon , as I was driving home from the way from work . At least Jamie http://jamiepatersonphotography.wordpress.com/ was out capturing it  . Thought I would go through some more old shots from when I went down to Dunsbrough for Christian Fletchers http://christianfletcher.wordpress.com/ course back in April . There is so much to shot down there still got about 10 gigs more worth of images to go through from that long weekend .

This was an 8 image stitch of Yallingup Beach , just love the rocky beachs down south , they make a such a really interesting subject compared to the normally sandy with beachs around Perth .

This is a freakin’ awesome shot! I’m hell jealous.
Did CF’s course teach you a lot of that killer editing?

Another terrific shot from that weekend Kirk. Was wondering what lens you use? I’m thinking of buying the Canon 70-200 F2.8, so any feedback would be great.

Hi Jayne,

I have the 70-200mm I ‘used’ to use it all the time until I found my new baby the 50mm F1.2. I wouldn’t really recommend the 70-200mm for landscape stuff, its great for portaits and fashion work.

BTW Kirk I love this shot as well.

i wouldnt get the 70-200mm unless i already had the 24-70 and the 50.
Only the lazy ones who cant even be stuffed to get out of their car will tell you otherwise! 😉

Thanks for that Jamie. I’ve got the 50mm f1.2 too and use it all the time. Think I’ll just get the lee filters.

Jayne,

I have the 24-70 as well and it would be most second most used lens now. Its a pretty versatile lens.

I’ve got the 50, 24-70 2.8, 70-200 2.8, 75-300 IS, 10-22, 28-135 IS, 100 macro they all get used often, depends what you’re shooting.

To answer your question the 70-200 2.8 is a fantastic lens but decide first what you are going to be shooting mostly.
I’d suggest the 24-70 2.8 as a great all round lens if you are only going to have 1 lens, it is a very versatile lens.

Hi Jayne,

On Neal’s suggestion I bought some Singh Ray filters instead of Lee’s. They were so much easier to get, just as good and their customer service was second to none. I’ve got a number of their filters now.

I am still coveting that Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM Lens. Once I have that I should be gold.

I have gone through quite a few lens ie.
17-70
50 f1.4
24-105
100

Currently only use my 24-70 and 70-200. When I get my 85mm f/1.2L II I will be off loading my 24-70

Wish list :
Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM
Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM

Thanks guys.
The reason I’m asking is I’m off to Hong Kong in the morning and thought I’d check the prices there. I’ve got the 50mm F1.4 which I use most and the 24-105 f4 L USM which came with my camera.
Neal, your wish list sounds awesome!

Hi Jayne ,
Thanks
I use the 50mm F1.4 for most of my work its a great lens and really sharp . The only problem with it is with the camera i use has a 1.6 ratio so i cant all ways fit every thing in . The other lens i have is Canon EF 17-40mm F/4L USM L Lens .
My next lens i would like would be the 24 – 70mm and later on the 50mm F1.2 .
